Join us for Wednesday Evening Sacred Space

Please join us for our Wednesday evening Sacred Space gatherings.  Doors open at 6:00 pm.  The first half hour is for sorting items for Salem area homeless people that have been donated to the Hope On Wheels (H.O.W.) program.  After a minimum of five minutes of sorting, youth are free to play foosball, pool, and just chat with friends.  Dinner is blessed and served at about 6:30.  After dinner Jeremy Hickerson leads the group in a songfest or jam time.  The remainder of the evening is a surprise!  It generally includes; a time for sharing joys and concerns, Bible Study, experiential worship, a group activity, or discussions of faith, life, and current events.
Youth in grades 6 through 12 are welcome to join us.  We are located in the basement of the MICAH building at 600 State Street, Salem, Oregon.

Upcoming Youth Overnight Retreat

Announcing our "Tent-In"

Summer is over and camping is so much fun!  The Sacred Space Youth group is having a 'Tent-In' (in lieu of a lock-in).  The event is an opportunity to learn to share God's love and highlights the challenges and needs of the Salem area homeless population, many of whom are living in tents.

The Event will be held in the backyard of the Bonn family on Friday evening September 18 and Saturday morning September 19, 2009.  Youth must pre-register to attend.  A parental consent form must be signed for all youth.  The Tent-In will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and end at noon on Saturday.

Youth are asked to bring:  a sleeping bag, lawn chair, and wet weather gear (including a change of layers in the event of inclement weather).  A little rain will not stop the event, but a deluge might.

Sign up to bring a tent (two person or family size) and help bring food for the event.
Call Robyn Morrison at (503) 983-0205 for more information or a registration form and parental consent form.

There is room for two more volunteer parents to supervise the event.

New Leader for Sacred Space

Hi.  I am the new adult leader for Sacred Space.  You can call me Robyn, or Pastor Robyn, or use my new nickname MYCE (Minister of Youth and Christian Education).  Before moving to Oregon to work with the young people at First UMC Salem, I was the Pastor at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Idaho.  I graduated from Pacific School of Religion with a Master of Divinity in May 2008.

I hope you will come to our gatherings on Wednesday evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. and get to know me and the amazing students I have the honor of ministering with.  We have an interesting and fun fall schedule planned so check back for our events.

Pace e Bene - "peace and all good"
